Prescription Clerk - INTERVIEW DATE 31ST MARCH 2026
Full-time 37.5 hours
Salary dependent upon experience (Salary Range £24,852-£25,341)
6 weeks holidays and NHS Pension plus 1 day off for birthday
Main duties of the job
To provide support to all clinical and
admin staff by answering all medicine related queries
Manage the repeat prescribing system on
a daily basis in line with the practice repeat prescribing policy and
prescribing guidelines
Manage the repeat prescribing
re-authorisation process by reviewing patient requests for repeat
prescriptions, and reviewing medicines reaching review dates, and flagging up
those needing a review to the relevant GP
Enter updated patient information onto
the practice clinical system
Responsible for the maintenance of an
efficient filing and retrieval system relating to repeat prescriptions
Receive telephone calls, take messages
and respond to prescription enquiries/requests
Deal with patients with single medical
problems where medicine optimisation is required and then pass to relevant
clinician as necessary
Work with care home staff to improve
safety of medicines ordering and administration.
- Reconcile
medicines following discharge from hospitals and intermediate care, including
identifying and rectifying unexplained changes, and working with patients and
community pharmacists to ensure patients receive the medicines they need and if
appropriate will liaise with clinician
Answering telephone calls at peak times
Participate in prescription audits and prescription team meetings
