- Monday: 8:30 am 2:00 pm
- Thursday & Friday: 8:30 am 6:30 pm
Due to increasing patient numbers, Forum Family Practice is looking to recruit a friendly, motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced Receptionist & Prescription Clerk to join our team.
About the Role
You will play a key role in supporting our multidisciplinary team and ensuring a smooth patient experience. Responsibilities include:
- Greeting and directing patients in a professional and welcoming manner
- Managing the appointment system and booking appointments efficiently
- Processing information accurately and assisting patients as required
- Acting as the central point of contact for patients, distributing information, messages, and enquiries
- Liaising with clinical team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community services
- Accurately and promptly processing prescription requests for our patient population, working closely with relevant personnel

- Previous experience in a reception or administrative role (ideally in a healthcare setting)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing outstanding patient care
Main duties of the job
Main Duties of the Job
- Ensure all patients and visitors are greeted professionally and politely, with their queries dealt with effectively and efficiently.
- Answer all incoming calls from patients and other healthcare professionals; divert or take messages as required.
- Deal with administrative queries and requests from patients and GPs.
- Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system, including making, rearranging, and cancelling appointments as required.
- Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, other team members, and associated healthcare providers.
- Scan all patient information (e.g., medical documents), ensuring all patient records are kept up to date.
- Manage referrals to primary and secondary care.
- Process and distribute incoming and outgoing post, as well as handling other ad hoc duties and general administrative tasks.
- Answer the prescription line, taking requests for medications and dealing with patient queries.
- Liaise with pharmacies and manage repeat dispensing tasks.
