Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Practice Manager to join our practice team with the overall responsibility for the day to day running of the practice. It will be your responsibility to lead and actively support the practice team in the delivery, development and management of our practice clinical, administrative and primary care network services.

You would be working collaboratively with our 4 proactive GP Partners and a well-established Practice Director who will support you in your role.

We have two sites based in the Fulwood area of Preston with a combined patient population of approximately 13,500 patients and we are a GP Training practice.

The position is full time with hours and salary to be discussed in detail at interview. Salary dependent on autonomy and experience. Please provide in your supporting information an indication of your current / anticipated renumeration.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the day-to day operational management of the practice ensuring staff achieve their responsibilities.

To be responsible for the development and management of Primary Care Network Service and PCN contractual obligations.

Overseeing the day-to-day provision of services ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective services to our practice population and tolead change and improvement initiatives at the practice.

To lead or support in HR matters as directed by the Practice Director / GP Partners.

To be aware of the practices contractual responsibilities, national, direct and local enhanced services and assist the team in delivering the provision of quality services.

To be aware of the requirements under the Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF) and support the team in maximising performance.

To be aware of the practice Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection requirements and ensure the practice is managed and services are delivered in line with the required standards.

To provide support and training for staff and ensure that quality guidelines are understood and adhered to.

To attend the Primary Care Network meetings on behalf of the practice and undertake any actions

To be aware of current Health & Safety legislation and ensure the practice premises are properly maintained.

To acknowledge and deal with practice complaints.

To be responsible for authorising rotas with the Office Manager and communicate with team.

Our team consists of 4 GP Partners, 1 Practice Director, 3 Salaried GPs, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 Advance Clinical Pharmacist, 5 GP Trainees, 2 Physician Associates, 6 Nursing Team and an administration and management team of 21 at present.

In addition we have the following additional roles supporting the practice: 1 First Contact Physiotherapist, 1 Social Prescriber, 1 Mental Health Practitioner, 1 Children & Young Persons Mental Health Practitioner.

Staffing and People Management:To lead or support in HR matters as directed by the Practice Director / GP Partners. To manage recruitment, retention, induction and training of administration staff with the support of the Office Manager to ensure all staff are trained to fulfil their role and identify any training needs.To support the Practice Director / GP Partners in planning and co-ordinating, recruitment, selection and induction of clinical staff.

Ensure that all staff are legally and gainfully employed and maintain up-to-date HR documentation (including job descriptions, employment contracts and personnel files).

To monitor staff annual leave, sickness and absence and mitigate any impact to practice staffing rotas.

Develop and implement an effective staff appraisal and monitoring systems for the administration team.

Monitoring Practice Performance and Targets:To read and be aware of all the primary Care KPIs and relevant targets and contractual obligations, including: Primary Care Network DES & PCN Projects, Lancashire County Council Commissioned Services, Direct, Local & National Enhanced Services, QOF (Quality Outcomes Framework), GP Delivery Improvement Framework, Care Quality Commission Regulations (CQC),Medicines Management, etc.

Monitor and evaluate performance of the Practice team against objectives; identify and manage change.To plan and implement processes to achieve all targets with the team such as QOF/PCN/IIF.To lead on PCN projects ensuring we achieve the required targets.

To support and work with the Practice Director/GP Partners on the development of CQC policies and in ensuring the practice meet the CQC requirements.
