Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Endoscopy
Health Care Assistant to join our expanding team. This is an exciting and
developing role within our Secondary Care Team and Endoscopy unit to support
the delivery of diagnostic Endoscopy procedures and investigations.
The candidate will have current and relevant Endoscopy
experience; however local training will be provided.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in
multiple areas of the department including, telephone triage, assisting in the
procedure room and within the decontamination department processing the
endoscopes.
Main duties of the job
Support registered staff in the implementation
of an agreed patient care plan
A good knowledge/understanding of endoscopy procedures
Act as the patient's advocate; provide physical and emotional support to
patients; act as a chaperone when required
Monitor
and record patients' vital signs; demonstrate an understanding of the
normal range and report any abnormal readings to nursing staff.
Follow locally agreed competency-based tasks supported by training and education to
gain theoretical underpinning knowledge to undertake a limited range of
delegated clinical care duties relevant to the services provided in line with
local policies and procedures
Set
up and assist nursing/medical staff in clinical procedures
Completion
of competency-based workbook/training
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with evidence of collaborative working
Accurately
record patient information.
Knowledge of patient confidentiality, privacy, dignity and consent
Adaptable and flexible approach
To operate the equipment necessary for the
decontamination of endoscopic equipment
Provide
technical support to the nursing team
Report
faults as required and in line with procedure

About us
We are a small, friendly service operating within a dedicated endoscopy unit.
The premises are modern, purpose built and well-equipped to provide a high qaulity service service to patients from the local area as well as further afield, working with local NHS Hopsital Trusts.
The team consists of a Lead Endoscopy Nurse, a directly employed Registered Nurse, two directly employed Operating Department Practitioners and two directly employed healthcare support workers. The wider team includes a Secondary Care Manager and a small administration team.

faults on endoscopes to co-ordinator; arrange return to supplier and request
loan replacement. Complete relevant decontamination forms

adhere to infection control measures. Follow procedures for cleaning and disinfecting endoscopes and accessories at all times
To handle hazardous chemicals daily according to
COSHH guidelines and local policy
