Job summary
The Lymphoedema team provides specialist
treatment and education for patients with primary or secondary lymphoedema,
with an emphasis on best management and encouraging the patient to take
on-going control of their condition by enabling self-management where possible.
Job Purpose:
To provide
support to the lymphoedema specialists in the delivery of a comprehensive, cost
effective and organised service in management of lymphoedema.
To undertake
delegated clinical work for patients from Clinical Specialists Lymphoedema.
To work independently, but with access to regular supervision from qualified staff.
Main duties of the job
To undertake
clinical work delegated by the Lymphoedema Clinical Specialists through being
responsible for a list of less complex clients and through shared care with
qualified staff; this may include basic re- assessment, e.g. measurement of
limb volume and basic treatment, e.g. provision of information
on exercise, skin care, simple self-massage, kinesio tape and compression
garments.
To
contribute to:Implementing care plans with guidance
from Lymphoedema Clinical Specialists.Giving
advice to patients, carers, and Health Care Professionals on specific aspect of
the patients care. Applying
evidence-based lymphoedema care in follow up clinics.Evaluating
client progress through regular re-assessment and updating care plan.
About us
DCCS Ltd is a community clinic based in Cambridgeshire. The service covers Dermatology, Minor Surgery, Vasectomy and Lymphoedema.
The Lymphoedema service serves those patients who live within the Huntingdonshire region. Proving management and treatment for both primary and secondary Lymphoedema patients from clinics based at the Buckden Surgery site between Huntingdon and St Neots. The service is led by a Lymphoedema Nurse specialist supported by Lymphoedema support workers.
Treatment includes;
Advice on daily care and management of swollen limbs including exercise, positioning and skin care.
Simple lymphatic drainage.
Expert advice and fitting of custom-fit and ready to wear compression hosiery.
