Job Title: Research Nurse
This is an exciting opportunity to join our primary care research team, working in EynshamMedical Practice and potentially other sites across West Oxfordshire where collaborative arrangements are agreed for specific clinical trials.
Hours: 15-16 hours per week with possible opportunities to work additional hours.
The hours will ideally be worked across 2 or 3 weekdays (usually Tuesdays and Thursdays with occasional Friday meeting attendance). We can offer some flexibility with days and times as we need to support clinics and research activities across the working week some of these dictated by trial specific timeframes and other team members availability.
Please note that there may be very occasional weekend working if trial activities are required (at enhanced payrate).
A registered nurse, you will be expected to work both individually and as part of a wider team, to promote and deliver clinical research across a range of clinical specialities.
Responsibilities will include supporting all aspects of research activity including:
Recruitment, administering assessments and interventions, collecting and managing data, audit, liaison with trial monitors and responsibility for the co-ordination and maintenance of accurate, comprehensive records of clinical trial files.

- Develop in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the
research studies.
- Screen, recruit and follow-up study participants
according to the study protocol and all local and national approvals.
- Provide information and support to patients, family
and friends of study participants.
- Complete Consent Forms and Case Report Forms
accurately and in a timely manner.
- Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
Codes of Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice and Good Clinical Practice at
all times.
- Adhere to all relevant local policies and standard
operating procedures for research studies taking place at Eynsham Medical Group
and other sites that may be working collaboratively with the practice.
- Act as an autonomous practitioner, taking
responsibility for clinical decisions where you are competent to do so.
- Support team in provision of laboratory systems and
processes including sample kit delivery/collection and processing, use of
centrifuge and dry ice transportation.
- Investigate and act on untoward incidents such as
complaints, clinical emergencies, injury or administration errors as detailed
in local protocols or procedures.
- Be prepared to adapt working patterns and
recruitment strategies according to study-specific requirements.
- Undertake application, planning and review
activities with the research team within Eynsham Medical Group and other sites
that may be working collaboratively with the practice.
- Attend monthly research update meetings whenever possible.

Eynsham Medical Group is a long-established teaching, training, dispensing and research practice in West Oxfordshire, offering patient services to communities in and around Eynsham and Long Hanborough.
Eynsham Medical Group is part of a network of local practices participating in research activities under the banner of National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Research Network: Thames Valley and South Midlands (National Institute for Health and Care Research CRN TVSM). The CRN TVSM is hosted by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire.
The Research Team works closely together with the Windrush Medical Centre on a number of research projects.
We are keen to build upon our experience of running commercial vaccine and other trials and maximise recruitment into a range of research studies, whilst supporting ongoing studies.
The successful candidate will be required to work at our Eynsham site. Free parking is available.
