Job summary

St Johns Group Practice is looking for a nurse to join our experienced nursing team. Full time hours are available but a minimum of 30 hours would be considered (please state how many desired hours in your application). We are a training practice with a wide multi-disciplinary team.

Experience running respiratory and/or diabetes clinics is essential. A prescribing qualification will be beneficial but not crucial.

Main duties of the job

You will provide a comprehensive nursing service to the practice population to meet healthcare needs.

You will undertake a variety of activities including immunisation and vaccination, cervical cytology, dressings and long term condition review clinics.

Reporting to Nurse Manager / Practice Manager

Qualifications

Must hold current NMC registration

Experience

Appropriate post registration, recognised qualifications in long term condition management.

Role Summary

To provide a comprehensive nursing service to the practice population to meet healthcare needs, including specialist clinics.

To work as an independent practitioner providing evidence based nursing care appropriate to the patients needs.

Will be based at the surgery but will also be required to visit patients in their own homes on occasions.

Assessing and interpreting symptoms in Nurse Led Clinics

Communications and relationships

Regularly communicates with various people through face-to-face contact or via the telephone using verbal and non verbal methods. Will need to communicate with patients whose first language is not English

Should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team.

To develop protocols and guidelines with Gps for use in the practice

As a training practice you will be required to have medical students and Gp registrars sitting in with you as part of their training and development.

Responsible for ensuring the nurses medical equipment maintenance programme is up to date and that all equipment is safe and that stocks are maintained

Responsible for maintaining own professional development by attending courses and study days as arranged with the partners
