We are looking to recruit a Senior Practice Manager with strong organisational skills and a passion for delivering outstanding care to patients. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to work at a large, yet closely knit Practice, then this might be the role you are looking for.
Main duties of the job
As the Senior Practice Manager you will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the Practice ensuring delivery of a safe and effective service. This is a new role within the Practice and is a fantastic opportunity for someone wishing to undertake a new challenge to improve patient services.
About us
Abbey Medical Practice looks after 28,500 patients in Wellingborough and has a small Practice in Earls Barton.
The Practice is led by 7 GP Partners and managed by our Head of Practice, along with the Patient Services Manager and Operations Manager. The Practice has 6 additional GPs in salaried roles with Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Treatment Area Nurses, Health Care Assistants led by the Nursing Manager. Healthy Minds Practitioner and Clinical Pharmacists are also in post. There is an extensive Patient Services Team who work extremely hard to support patients and staff.
The Practice is part of Wellingborough and District PCN hub offering access to multidisciplinary teams and additional clinicians ensuring patients are seen by the most appropriate professionals.
Abbey Medical Practice is registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and works within National NHS guidelines and local commissioners to provide safe, effective and responsive services to our patient population.

Job responsibilities
- Oversee the management of the day to day operations of the Practice ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- Line Manager for the Patient Services Manager, Nursing Manager, Clinical Pharmacist, Mental Health Nurse, Operations Administrator, Contracts Administrator and Patient Support role.
- Oversee HR processes, including recruitment, appraisals, training and staff performance for key areas of responsibility
- Ensure the Practice delivers a positive experience for all patient contact focussing on safe, responsive and effective care.
- Review demand and capacity to ensure the Practice provides sufficient appointments for the Practice population
- Responsible for delivery of Long Term Condition reviews for patients.
- Responsible for delivery of Medicines Management.
- Ensuring the Practice is compliant within areas of responsibility in accordance with CQC and other regulatory bodies. Undertaking regular audits, risk assessments and review of the Practice policies.
- Contribute to and implement the Practice strategic plans, business objectives and service development initiatives
