Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Medical
Secretary Team on a part-time basis for 15 hours per week. The working pattern
is a Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.
You will work as part of the Medical
Secretary Team dealing with all aspects of referrals and sending via
e-referral, Tasks and rejected referrals.
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience of working in the secretarial role.
Is friendly, polite and confident.
Can communicate effectively and has good interpersonal
skills.
Has good attention to detail.
Is a team player.
Has the ability to work accurately under pressure.
Main duties of the job
To
provide a full and efficient administrative service to GP partners and clinical
teams. This will include audio typing of referrals, completion of tasks,
responding to queries from patients/clinicians/third parties and facilitating
electronic referrals.

About us
We are a successful and cohesive
team of 2 GP partners, 5 salaried GP and 4 prescribing ANPs with 10,500
patients. We also have an experienced
pharmacist, pharmacy technician, extended scope physiotherapist, an active
social prescriber and a bereavement advisor.
All supported by a growing administrative team providing support in
alleviating the administrative tasks of general practice.
We are situated East of Plymouth
in Plymstock so perfectly situated to explore both Dartmoor and the sea and the
area feeds into excellent primary and secondary schools.

patient encounters are recorded accurately on clinical systems.
Monitor
and respond to emails into the surgery.
Monitor
Lexacom to ensure referrals are typed and sent efficiently.
Monitor
tasks, results, emails and referrals, following up queries and ensuring
patients are kept informed of relevant results and treatment pathways.
Check
the e-referral platform for the advice & guidance, assessment &
rejections.
Prepare
the agenda and attend the clinical meetings once a month and take detailed and accurate minutes.
Ensure
your work area is safe and free of adverse risk to health.
Ensure
all information is secure and confidentiality of information is always
maintained.
Keep up to date with DRSS and
referral services processes, and update SystmOne with new referral templates.
Have up to date knowledge of
computer systems, which includes the Devon Formulary guidance.
Support with the invitations of
pre-diabetic, q-risk, CKD 3 and hypertension.
A review of the weekly GP Bulletin
to make sure any DRRS or formulary updates are reflected on the clinical system
and always kept up to date.

- Diligent - a high level of accuracy is required as the data inputting relates to vital clinical and other confidential information used in patient care. Errors could result in harm to patients.
- Literate - A high standard of written English will be demonstrated, and you will learn medical terminology and develop a working knowledge of some of the concepts behind the words.
