Job summary

Little Bushey Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic and committed salaried GP for 4 sessions (two full days) a week to join our hard-working, friendly team. We put patient care at the centre of what we do.

Main duties of the job

SALARIED GP RESPONSIBILITIES

Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care to a standard required to maintain your fitness to practice in line with revalidation requirements.

Surgeries: mix of face to face and telephone consultations, booked in advance or on the day

10 minute appointments

2.5 hour surgeries with up to 0-3 additional patients per surgery, occasionally more

Visiting patients at home, usually 0-1 visits, occasionally more

Responding to receptionist/administrative queries

Signing repeat prescriptions (duty shared with other clinicians)

Dealing with own pathology results

Reading correspondence docman (duty shared with other clinicians)

On-call: during working days, 830am-630pm full day,

Reading and actioning duty doctor tray when on call

Dealing with urgent queries when on call

Managing own referrals NHS/Private

Recording clear and contemporaneous computer based consultation notes to agreed standards

Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guideline

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working in primary care.

Targets

Participate in achieving national and local targets including QOF, IIF, PCN and ICB targets.

Take lead responsibility for specific targets within these frameworks.

Job Description:

The post-holder will deal with a range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. Responsibilities will reflect requirements of the NHS GP contracts, and as such may be subject to change as services adapt.

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant guidelines and protocols.

Health & Safety:

The post-holder will implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management of their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice health & safety policy and the practice infection control policy and published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to):

Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines

Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory / contractual. professional requirements, and good practice guidelines

Correct personal use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Management of full range of infection control procedures in both routine and extraordinary circumstances (e.g., pandemic, or individual infection circumstances)

Hand hygiene standards for self and others

Monitoring practice facilities and equipment in relation to infection control, ensuring that proper use is made of hand cleansing facilities.

Safe management of sharps use, storage and disposal.

Maintaining of own clean working environment

Actively identifying, reporting and correction of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognized

Undertaking periodic infection control training

Correct waste and instrument management including handling, segregation, and container use.
