Part time call handlers required at Springhead Health surgery.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday - 8am to 6.30pm
The listing will be closed as soon as sufficient applicants have been received
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a hardworking, confident and helpful individual with a professional approach. Training will be provided.
Duties include: To receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

- Be
vigilant for very sick patients
- Use
initiative to alert other staff to emergencies by means of the red
button
- To have a
thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
- To work in
accordance of written protocols
- Be able to
cover all reception positions and shifts as necessary
- Have thorough
knowledge of computer systems
- Have
working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours
- Input
patient details and process change of details computer data and medical
records (have knowledge of local Practice area)
- Chaperone
duties (once trained)
- Process
appointment requests from patients by telephone according to surgery
procedure (ensuring the appointment is allocated to the correct staff
member and the correct time is allowed for the consultation)
- Receiving
patients, consulting with members of Practice team
- Booking in
patients
- Taking
information from patients and dealing with it correctly under Caldicott
principles
- Handing
completed prescriptions to patient or representatives, ensuring
confidentiality by checking authority to collect and patient details
- Process
appointment requests from patients in person or by phone according to
