As a first contact practitioner (FCP), acting as a first-contact physiotherapist, you will be providing initial assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients in need of musculoskeletal (MSK) related care. As the first point of contact for patients, this individual plays a pivotal role in ensuring timely and effective care delivery.

Main duties of the job
1. Assessment and triage: You will assess and triage patients who present with MSK conditions, such as back pain, joint pain, or sports injuries. They use their clinical expertise to determine the appropriate course of action, which may involve referring the patient for further tests or treatment, providing advice, or referring them to a specialist.
2. Diagnosis and treatment: You are trained to diagnose and treat a range of MSK conditions, including strains, sprains, and fractures. You may use a variety of techniques, such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, and education, to help patients recover from their injuries and manage their pain.
3. Referrals and follow-up: You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the appropriate care and support. You may refer patients for further assessment or treatment, and provide follow-up care to monitor their progress.
4. Patient education: You will educate patients about their condition, treatment options, and self-management strategies. You will empower patients to take an active role in their care and support them in making informed decisions about their health.
5. Continuous professional development: You willstay up-to-date with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in MSK care. You willparticipate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills.
