Job summary
The Prescription clerk provides support
to our Clinicians in the receipt and preparation of prescriptions. You will be
the main point of contact for enquiries about prescriptions from patients,
community pharmacies and care homes. As the main contact for these enquiries, a
good telephone manner and excellent communication skills are essential.
To thrive in this role you will need exceptional
organisational and prioritising skills, combined with excellent attention to
detail. You will need to be confident to problem solve and enjoy working
closely as a team to achieve objectives and ensure that your prescription
workloads are managed in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
To issue prescriptions in accordance with Practice Protocol
To re-start medication prescribed in the past inline with the
Practice formulary.
To make medication changes from any hospital letters and discharge
summaries.
To
report overuse of specified drugs to the doctors as per the protocol.
To
compile the working days prescriptions and present to Clinicians for signing
To
issue emergency prescription requests with reference to the practice guidance.
To
maintain a spreadsheet of patients with dosette boxes and other medications
managed by
the practice. To ensure that prescriptions for these patients are
prepared in
a timely manner.
To
monitor reported manufacturing problems with Pharmacy Technician.
To
communicate with local pharmacies via telephone and email.
To
liaise with patients via telephone email text and dashboard.
To
administrate the process for patients with compliance aids.
To
action tasks directly from Clinicians.
To
administrate for the Drugs misuse LES.
Manage
the practice policy for blue prescription.
To
support Care homes with residents prescription.
To
set up repeat dispensing in line with Practice Protocol
