Job summary

In this key planning role, you will be responsible for creating, monitoring, and coordinating the rotas (schedules) for our Clinical and Support colleagues. You will also handle leave requests and report business intelligence data. You will forward plan matching our capacity with demand, both for clinical and non-clinical needs. This role is crucial for shaping the future of our general practice, and your innovative thinking will help establish this role within Health Care First.

As a member of the Planning Services Team, you will work closely with other departments to report absences, leave, shift swaps, and temporary staffing, and bring urgent matters to your Line Manager's attention.

Main duties of the job

The Planning Services Co-ordinator is responsible for managing and co-ordinating colleague schedules to ensure operational efficiency and adequate coverage. The main duties include:

  1. Creating colleague rotas

  2. Monitoring colleague capacity

  3. Co-ordinating absences and annual leave

  4. Optimizing resources

  5. Communicating schedules to colleagues

  6. Tracking performance metrics

This role demands strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to adapt to dynamic staffing needs.

Health Care First Partnership (HCF) is a partnership formed by a group of high-quality practices: Dr Bance & Partners, Ferrybridge Medical Centre, Queen Street Surgery and FMC Health Solutions Limited (t/a Park View Surgery). We came together to deliver modern services that are high quality and will meet the needs of our patients into the future.

HCF is a General Practice Partnership open to all patients living within our practice boundary within Methley, Castleford, Ferrybridge, Airedale, Normanton and surrounding villages. We work in partnership with our patients and our Patient Forum to provide medical care for our patients.

We are a Personal Medical Services (PMS) practice offering Primary Care Services for the diagnosis and prevention of disease. We help patients to manage their health and prevent illness. Our GPs assess, diagnose, treat and manage illness. They carry out screening for some diseases and promote general health and wellbeing. Our GPs act as a patients advocate, supporting and representing a patients best interests to ensure they receive the best and most appropriate health and/or social care.

The Practice has a current list size of 31,500 patients and we are part of the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (formerly NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group).
