Exciting
opportunity for an experienced sexual health and reproductive nurse to join a
new team in developing womens health hub services in primary care.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will work with the Womens Health Lead Nurse, Care
Coordinator and GP and be responsible for providing a long-acting revisable
contraceptive service (LARC) to patients who are registered at the Brownlow
Health practices within central Liverpool.
Whilst the post holder will work as part of a womens health team they
must be able to work autonomously and have experience and be competent when
dealing with sexual health and contraception presentations including LARCs
Training would be provided in our technology systems such as EMIS and
Blinx. We would ensure competence in remote and online consultations.
The post holder
must be a non-medical prescriber
The post holder must have completed and maintained the FSRH LoC
training for subdermal implants (LoC SDI-IR) and contraceptive coils (LoC
IUT).

Job responsibilities
Management of patients under the care of the
GP for the treatment of conditions within the practitioners scope of
competence.
To provide sexual health advice to patients
following a positive STI diagnosis and ensure appropriate onward referral.
To provide comprehensive sexual health
information, advice, teaching, and support to patients enabling them to select
and use a method of contraception suited to their needs.
To supply emergency contraception, start and
re-issue combined oral and progestogen only contraceptive methods and
Depo-Provera injections.
Maintaining a high level of service to
patients in the absence of a doctor and referral to alternative
clinics/agencies as appropriate.
Act as the patients advocate at all times
and promote their privacy, dignity and modesty during the clinic visit.
Insertion of Coils and Implants.
Assess patients under the age of 16 using
Fraser Guidelines and adhering to local Child Protection Policies with referral
to appropriate agencies as needed (i.e. Safeguarding team, Social services,
Family protection unit, Police).
Participating and Co-operating with the
multi- disciplinary team in all aspects of patient care, arranging any
necessary after care/referrals that may be required .
Provide health education and promotion of
health and prevention of illness with regards to sexual health.
Reporting of untoward incidents, accidents
and complaints to the Nurse manager and Care Coordinator
Participation in audit/clinical governance
issues such as record keeping, patient satisfaction. Maintaining and monitoring
any requested details. Implementation of any actions required following audit
with the aim of improving quality of services.
Participating in the
teaching of other health professionals (to include junior staff and pre and
post registration students) and other agencies as required.
