Job summary

Dr Laliwala partners is looking for a dynamic and motivated GP to join our team.

We are a group of 3 practices, each with separate GMS contracts, based in Peterborough. We currently have 5 sites with a combined patient list size of just under 16,000. We have a diverse patient population across the sites with varying health needs.

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

About us

We are 4 GP Partners supported by a team of regular GPs, an ANP and a Physicians Associate.

Other roles within the team include:

4 Clinical Pharmacists, 1 Pharmacy Technician and 1 Trainee Pharmacy Technician, along with our prescribing clerks who deal with repeat medication, medication queries, medication reviews and medication arising from clinic and discharge letters.

A First Contact Physio is available to book on the day and in advance to deal with first time musculoskeletal issues.

5 GPAs assist and support our clinicians with both admin and clinical work within their capabilities.

We have access to additional services through the Greater Peterborough Network, including social prescribers, podiatrist and HCA home visiting services.

A nursing team consisting of 6 nurses and 1 HCA

A fantastic administration and reception team to deal with patient queries, referrals, letters etc

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion,a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the practice population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat and acute prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

g. Carry out home visits where necessary

h. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

i. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

j. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

k. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

l. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

m. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

n. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

o. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

p. Prepare and complete the revalidation process

q. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

r. Support other members of the clinical team, such as Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants, dealing with queries as they arise

s. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

t. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

u. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

v. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times
