Practice Nurse

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced General Practice Nurse to join our busy, friendly, and supportive practice team.

Working days will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - 4 or 5 sessions spread in agreement with the applicant.

Working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will ensure delivery of effective nursing services and in addition you will be responsible for a number of clinical areas such as health promotion, chronic disease management & health prevention, as well as supporting the practice management team in the reviewing and delivery of clinical policy and procedure fairly standard NMC stuff e.g. cervical smears, child immunisations - see below

Main duties of the job

The principal duties will include

• Wound management
• Long term conditions reviews (diabetes, respiratory, cardiovascular etc)
• Vaccination and immunisation - child and adult
• Health promotion
• Womens health including cervical smears
• Mens health
• Travel advice
• Family planning advice
• Infection control

Water Meadow Surgery is a thriving general medical practice located in the leafy Chiltern Hills, based in Chesham. The town is served by a London Underground station on the Metropolitan Line connecting directly with central London. We often score highly in patient polls as one of the top practices in Bucks.

The patient's practice list has grown steadily over the last few years to just over 13,000. The practice population includes a mixed of social classes with a few pockets of deprivation. The practice is part of the Chesham & Little Chalfont PCN.

Premises

The practice is located in the purpose-built two storey health accommodation built in 1995 close to the town centre, just off Red Lion Street. There is plenty of parking for staff.In addition the premises house a local pharmacy (Garlicks Chemist).

The ground floor of the premises consists of the reception and six GP consulting rooms and three nurse rooms as well as the pharmacy.

The first floor is split into two distinct areas. The first houses four further consulting rooms, a waiting room, together with the admin offices and a large meeting room.
