Minster Medical Practice is seeking a motivated and compassionate Salaried GP (6 sessions per week) to join our friendly, well-established team in Uphill Lincoln as part of our succession planning.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. The post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

In accordance with the practice timetable the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, home visits, dealing with repeat prescriptions, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the practice.

Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols

Collecting data for audit purposes

Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate

Essential

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of continued professional development
  • Experience of QoF and clinical audit
  • General understanding of the GMS contract

Knowledge and skills

Desirable

  • Ideally you will be an experienced GP with the following skills:
  • Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management and primary prevention and screening services
  • Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and responsible for ensuring all mandatory training is in date
  • Awareness and compliance will all relevant practice policies/guidelines, for example prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, record keeping, health and safety
  • Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
  • Understanding of the health and social needs of a local practice patient population
  • Understanding of the current issues and challenges facing primary care
  • Ability to handle change and unexpected urgent requirements

Qualifications

Essential

  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003
  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
  • Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
