Job summary

We are a forward thinking practice in Westminster. We are looking for someone to join us and help us to reach our goal, which ultimately is to provide the best possible care for our patients and for each other.

We are happy to consider full and part time working.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to do all reception and administration duties associated with GP practice. You will be trained to do a full range of duties, rather than being restricted to one area of work, so that we can fill in and provide cover where needed. Attention to detail and good computer and written skills are essential.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To maintain the confidentiality of patient records at all times.

To welcome patients upon arrival at the practice.

To answer incoming calls to the practice.

To arrange new/follow up appointments for patients, in accordance with the appointments system, and arrange home visits etc. as necessary.

To register new patients to the practice and ensure all necessary documentation has been completed.

To ensure patient records are available to the doctor for home visits etc.

To answer general enquiries from patients re. the surgery.

To undertake general clerical duties which will include photocopying, filing of patient records, opening and sorting incoming mail.

Confident use of computer systems.

Ensuring electronic communications are actioned and referred to clinicians as appropriately and promptly as possible.

To generate electronic patient repeat medication requests in a timely manner.

Chaperone patients, if requested, during examination.

To take messages on behalf of the doctors, practice manager etc. as required and ensure that they are passed on promptly.

Ensure that at the end of shift information about unresolved matters is clearly noted and passed on to incoming colleagues.

To ensure that clinical rooms are prepared for clinicians each morning and tidied each evening.

To ensure that patient samples are recorded and made available for daily collection by the courier service.

To ensure that visitors sign in and out of the Visitors Book.

To maintain security of the buildings, as required, ensuring they are open in the morning and securely locked and alarms set at the end of the day.

To liaise with other professional bodies as appropriate.

To ensure an adequate supply of stationery is available in clinical rooms and reception areas.

To participate in practice meetings as and when required.

To be flexible and able to work at any of our surgeries when required.

To cover for colleagues absent due to holidays/sickness as required - sometimes at short notice.

To participate in all training as required by the practice.

Be aware of Health and Safety requirements.

Ensure that all areas within the surgeries are kept clean and tidy.

Any other duties appropriate to the grading of the post.
