Medical Receptionist

Job summary

Hours: Part Time 25 hours per week Working Pattern: Rota basis between 7:00am 6:30pm (usually 5-hour shifts)

We are looking for a friendly, organised and motivated Medical Receptionist to join our busy and supportive practice team.

This is a key front-line role where you will be the first point of contact for patients both face-to-face and over the telephone. We are therefore looking for someone who is confident, approachable and passionate about delivering excellent customer service.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be able to manage multiple tasks and remain calm and professional when dealing with a variety of patient enquiries. You will play an important role in ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide a warm, professional and helpful welcome to patients and visitors
  • Communicate effectively with patients, clinicians and external organisations via telephone and face-to-face contact
  • Book, amend and manage patient appointments
  • Respond to a wide range of patient enquiries in a timely and supportive manner
  • Process prescription requests in line with practice procedures
  • Open, sort and distribute incoming post and manage deliveries
  • Scan, copy and accurately file patient documentation
  • Receive and process patient payments where required
  • Act as a central point of communication, taking messages and ensuring appropriate actions are completed
  • Provide general administrative support to clinicians and the wider practice team

    • Customer service experience is essential

    • Good attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
