Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time friendly, confident, well-spoken, enthusiastic and energetic person to work within our dedicated reception / care navigation team at our busy GP training surgery, James Street Family Practice.

We are looking for a team player wanting to help our surgery continue with its great success and contribute to its key performance measures and development. Experience in general practice, as well as familiarity with SystmOne, would be a distinct advantage, but is not essential. However, confidentiality, diplomacy, good people and IT skills, smart appearance and a good sense of humour are essential requirements for this post.

Main duties of the job

In summary:

The role of the Receptionist / Care Navigator is to greet patients, answer calls, schedule appointments, manage patient records, handle correspondence and direct urgent queries to the right healthcare professional. Ultimately, we want someone to project a positive image for the practice, whilst ensuring a smooth patient flow.

Job Responsibilities

  • Welcome visitors, handle phone calls, direct patients, and manage queries, appointments and results.
  • Direct to appropriate services, like pharmacies or other MDT providers, for minor issues in order to optimise GP time.
  • Data entry, processing mail, managing patient records and general clerical work.
  • Act as the central communication point for patients, doctors and external agencies, ensuring messages and information is acurately distributed.
  • Use judgement to handle patient needs guiding them to the quickest care pathway, an addressing concerns.
