Job summary

The role will be working as a healthcare assistant within a GP practice in Norwich, with approx. 6900 patients. We are looking to expand our nursing team within practice and feel an HCA will compliment the two Practice Nurses and Phlebotomist we currently have on staff.

Main duties of the job

Clinical main duties include phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, urinalysis, recording BMI's, dressings, ECG, temperature, pulse and respiratory monitoring. Plus carrying out health checks, some long term condition monitoring and health and lifestyle promotion. Administration work such as fridge monitoring and ordering stock will also be required.

About us

Prospect Medical Practice is situated on the outskirts of Norwich but with good transport links and we also have a car park. We have a current patient list of approx. 6900 covering areas within Mile Cross, Hellesdon, and Old Catton. Our clinical team is currently made up of 7 GP's, a Physician Assistant, Clinical pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, two Practice Nurses and a phlebotomist working alongside a multiskilled administration team of receptionists, secretaries and administrators. We are a very close team and have various social gatherings outside of work. The management team take staff wellbeing seriously and are always on hand to offer support for staff where needed.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities and Duties:

Clinical duties include (but not limited to): Performing phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, urinalysis, temperature, pulse and respiratory monitoring, recording weight, height and waist circumference and BMI.

Patient Care: Conduct new patient health checks, NHS Health checks, Long Term condition monitoring and basic wound care

Support Procedures: Assist with coil fittings and chaperone patients during exams

Vaccinations: Administer vaccinations (e.g flu, B12) under strict patient group directions (PGD) and protocols.

Administration and Maintenance: Maintain, sterilize and clean clinical equipment, manage vaccine / cold chain storage, ensure consulting rooms are stocked and maintaining administrative records accordingly. Attend nursing team meetings, participate in audits and development of protocols and new services.

Health Promotion: Advise patients on minor ailments, health promotion, and lifestyle management (smoking cessation, weight management etc).
