Job responsibilities

Job Summary

To act as first point of contact for patients, clinicians, members of the public and other agencies as appropriate.

To ensure the smooth day to day running of the reception services which support the practice

To provide the highest level of service to patients, members of the public, clinicians and other agencies

To ensure efficient running of the appointments system and effective use of the clinical system and visit request in line with practice policy.

To support the GP, Practice manager and other employees with general administration work including dealing with patient correspondence, management of QOF, filing, patient referrals and all admin duties that are undertaken in the day to day running of general practice.

Key Responsibilities

Day to Day Role

  • To be a key holder and prepare the surgery for opening and closing including, locking doors and windows and other duties in line with practice policy.
  • Receiving and booking in patients consulting with members of the practice team.
  • To have a thorough knowledge of all practice protocols and always work in accordance with them.
  • Handing over documents to patients and ensuring names and addresses and dates of birth are checked
  • Covering all reception duties as necessary
