Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our thriving, innovative and forward-thinking practice which is the hub of the community.

The applicant must hold a recognised Dispenser qualification, have excellent attention to detail and ideally will have experience of working in a busy dispensary or pharmacy.

Main duties of the job

To dispense acute and repeat medications to patients.

To place medication orders with manufacturers.

To communicate effectively with pataints and clincial staff regarding medication queries.

About us

Staithe Surgery looks after approximately 7,500 patients and comprises of two GP partners, three salaried GPs and three Nurse Practitioners.

We are a rural training, research accredited and dispensing practice that benefits from highly skilled nursing staff and an efficient admin and dispensing team. We pride ourselves on offering a high standard of care and are a high QOF achieving practice with successful CQC inspections.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Dispense current prescriptions to patients.

Dispense repeat prescriptions to patients.

Dispense drugs to patients with instructions on how to take the medication. Check and pack ready for collection by patients or their representatives.

Where a drug requested is not shown as a repeat prescription, discuss with a clinician.

Deal with patient queries and refer to a clinician where necessary.

Record and dispense private prescriptions as required.

To cover for dispensary clerk role where necessary.

Record and account for dispensary income, including cash and prescriptions. Administer float and prepare cash for banking.

Send off monthly scripts to the Prescriptions Pricing Authority according to dispensary protocol.

Carry out appropriate administration of paperwork in line with dispensary protocols.

To help provide cover for staff absence.
