Job summary

We are pleased to advertise the exciting new opportunity for a Lead Practice Nurse to join our team. We are looking for an enthusiastic Practice Nurse. You might already be a Lead Nurse, or be looking for the next step in your career. The important thing to us is getting the right candidate and we are happy to support development into the role.

Rated Outstanding by CQC, Amicus Health is a GP training practice with a strong GP team. We are looking for a Lead Practice Nurse to support the development of the existing nursing team and lead us towards becoming a nurse training practice. If you have a strong primary care background and are passionate about supporting and developing others by sharing your knowledge, we want to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

Working across both Clare House (Tiverton) and Bampton sites the Nurse Lead will be expected to develop, organise and manage the practice nursing and HCA team to ensure the effective delivery of nursing services across the practices.

As Lead Nurse you will be responsible for a number of clinical areas such as Infection Control, Immunisations, Long Term Conditions, Chronic Disease Management and Health Promotion/Prevention. Working alongside the senior management team you will have line management and leadership oversight of our dedicated team of Nurses and Healthcare assistants.

You will also provide a practice nursing service to patients, including chronic disease management and other specialist areas. For the right applicant there will be the opportunity to further develop specialist interests (in line with practice aims), including prescribing.

The post holder is responsible to the Practice Manager, but will also liaise closely with all the partners, and be an integral member of the senior management team.

About us

Amicus Health was borne from the merger of Clare House and Bampton Surgeries, and provides care for over 17,500 patients across Tiverton and Bampton.

We have a team of over 80 staff, including GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, HCAs and a strong administrative function. We are looking to develop our nursing team to further strengthen our offer to patients and ensure that we can meet the needs of our growing  patient list.

Despite the size of the organisation, there is still a strong team ethos and focus on staff wellbeing. The nursing team have regular breaks together and a weekly team meeting with the GP Partner who supports the nursing team. We also hold monthly clinical meetings to support ongoing CPD.

Staff are entitled to join the NHS pension scheme. We provide fruit, tea and coffee for all staff and encourage team building through the provision of annual summer and Christmas parties, yoga, walking groups and appreciation postcards.
