Job summary

Newly qualified or experienced nurse.

Doesnt need experience as long as qualified nurse.

To assist medical personnel in the care of practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for offering all general practice nursing services including chronic disease management reviews, prevention and screening duties, contraception services and general investigative procedures.

Bowland Medical practice is a well-established training practice hosting GP speciality trainee. We have seven GP partners as well as employing practice nurses and allied health professionals. We have a friendly and dynamic team that is committed to providing high quality care to our local population of over 8,000 patients. Job responsibilities

Job description

You will be well supported within the general practice nursing team and provided with adequate training to meet the responsibilities outlined below.

Main responsibilities include.

Performance of chronic disease management reviews

Facilitate investigations such as venepuncture, spirometry and 12-lead ECGs

Perform cervical cytology screening

Routine immunisations

Childhood immunisations

Participate in activities to promote healthy lifestyles

Improve uptake of screening services.

Administration of intramuscular injections such as B12 or depot contraceptive.

Contraception and HRT reviews

Maintain accurate medical records

Ordering and maintain practice stock of medical equipment

Attend and participate in practice meetings and Primary Care team meetings

Participate in quality improvement work

Facilitate teaching and training of staff

Participate in continuing professional development activities

Complete annual performance review

Complete home visits where appropriate

Chaperone and assist in minor surgery and contraceptive services (IUD/implan

  • Registered General Nurse Current NMC registered

Desirable

  • Completion of cervical cytology smear taker course
  • Relevant diploma or qualification in practice nursing
  • Driving licence

Experience
