Full training and support will be provided to help you settle into the role.
Phlebotomy skills and experience are essential, and you'll play a key part in delivering high-quality care to our community of approximately 7,000 patients. You'll be working alongside our established nursing and healthcare assistant team as part of a wider clinical team committed to excellence in patient care.

Main duties of the job
Venepuncture: Perform blood collection from patients of all ages using correct techniques and protocols, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Sample Handling: Correctly label, package, and prepare blood samples for transport to the laboratory in accordance with practice and NHS guidelines.

Patient Identification & Record Keeping: Ensure accurate patient identification and maintain thorough documentation of procedures and samples collected within the clinical system EMIS.

Infection Control: Follow strict hygiene, infection prevention, and control protocols before, during, and after each procedure.

Patient Interaction: Provide a calm, reassuring presence for patients who may be anxious or nervous, especially those with a fear of needles.

Teamwork: Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, HCAs, and admin staff to support the efficient delivery of patient care.

Confidentiality & GDPR: Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations at all times.

Clinical System Use: Enter relevant data and results into the patient record and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are flagged or undertaken.

Support Clinics: Occasionally assist with other clinical tasks during clinics, if appropriately trained and required.

Adherence to Protocols: Comply with all practice policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines.
