Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Riversdale Surgery for a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our friendly, high performing team. We are ideally seeking someone with recent experience working within General Practice, confident in delivering core treatment room skills.
You will play a key role in delivering highquality patient care, assisting with clinical procedures, and supporting the smooth operation of our busy primary care environment. The successful candidate will be patient centred, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
- Provide general treatment room services including wound management, dressings cervical screening, and immunisations (adult, childhood and travel)
- Deliver chronic disease management reviews (e.g., diabetes, asthma, hypertension, COPD, CHD)
- Implement and evaluate evidence based treatment plans
- Identify and manage patients at risk of long term conditions
- Assist GPs with minor procedures when required
- Maintain accurate clinical records using SNOMED CT
- Provide opportunistic health promotion and lifestyle support
- Contribute to Infection Prevention & Control processes and audits
- Work within PGDs and practice policies
- Participate in shared learning, audit activity, and continuous improvement

We are a vibrant, semirural practice located in the heart of Belper, gateway to the Peak District, caring for 13,600 patients. Our expanding clinical team includes:

- Six Salaried GPs
- A nursing team of seven
- Two Frailty ACPs
- Clinical Pharmacists, Care Coordinators & Mental Health Workers
- FCP service & PCN Home Visiting Team
- A highly efficient admin and reception team
Riversdale Surgery is a friendly, very patient centred practice. We meet daily for an informal multidisciplinary coffee debrief and pride ourselves on a supportive, collaborative culture.
We use SystmOne, AccuRx and Ardens and actively adopt digital tools to reduce admin burden and improve patient care. We are a training practice, offering opportunities to support GP registrars and medical students.
