Job summary

Bassett Road Surgery is a well-established and respected GP training practice in Leighton Buzzard. The 8 GP partners are seeking an exceptional Business Manager to lead the organisation into its next phase of development.

We are looking for someone who can not only manage day-to-day operations but also drive cultural change, identify efficiencies, enable innovation, empower staff and shape a positive future for the organisation.

Main duties of the job

As Business Manager, working closely with the GP partners, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the surgery. You will lead the strategic, operational, financial and organisational management of the practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strong leadership across the practice
  • Reviewing and transforming internal processes (both clinical and non-clinical)
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to improve services, identify efficiency and optimise outcomes
  • Leading organisational change and service development and redesign
  • Overseeing finance, budgeting, contracts and income optimisation and supporting others in the organisation to contribute to this function effectively.
  • Overseeing HR, workforce planning, staff development and performance and supporting others in the organisation to contribute to this function effectively.
  • Ensuring that the organisation remains compliant with NHS regulations, CQC standards and governance requirements and that this becomes a shared priority across the whole team.
  • Building effective relationships with other external stakeholders, including but not limited to other surgeries in the Primary Care Network, the Integrated Care Board, other healthcare providers and our Patient Participation Group.

About us

The practice team (64 staff members) is responsible for the care of 21,000 patients, a population which continues to grow by 5% each year. Ensuring that this care is person-centred, compassionate and of a consistently high quality is a priority for us.
