Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Practice Nurse to join our busy team at the Hollies Medical Practice in Tamworth.
The Hollies has approximately 16000 registered patients. Our clinical team consists of 10 GPs, a senior practice nurse, 4 practice nurses, 3 healthcare assistants, 1 nursing associate, 3 clinical pharmacists and a pharmacy technician. As a training practice, we also regularly have GP registrars and medical students working at the practice. We all work together to provide a high standard of care to our patients.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. They will support the delivery of the following services to patients:
- Providing general advice regarding health care and minor ailments
- Chronic disease and management of long term conditions, such as COPD and Diabetes
- Immunisations
- Cytology
- Ear care
- Venepuncture
The practice uses EMIS Web, and although experience in using this system is desirable training will be provided.
Applicants must hold a current NMC registration and be committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

Advise patients regarding
general health care and minor ailments, in person and on the telephone
Devise and
implement a programme of nursing care based on individual patient need, in
conjunction with the patient.
Be responsible for managing clinics and carrying
out associated tasks including the following:
Cytology, travel vaccinations, ECGs,
Spirometry, peak flow readings, venepuncture, management of long term
conditions, ear syringing, childhood immunisations, chaperoning
patients who are being examined by another clinician, urine testing, dietary
advice, anaphylaxis and CPR.
