An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and
motivated individual to join our reception team. We are a small, friendly and caring
practice offering a full range of services to our patients.
Our team consists of 2 GP Partners, a Salaried GP,
and practice nurses. They are supported by an experienced and dedicated team of
managerial, administration, reception and dispensary staff. We are further
supported by our PCN Staff which includes care co-ordinators, pharmacists and
pharmacy technicians, social prescribers, mental health practitioners and
health and wellbeing coaches
Main duties of the job
Our Receptionist will receive,
direct and assist our patients in accessing the appropriate service or
healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. They will also provide general administrative
assistance to the practice team and act as a focal point of communication
between patients, doctors and other medical and clerical staff.
About us
We are a semi-rural Dispensing GP Practice who has
been providing General Medical Services since the late 1960's to residents
within the town of Cheadle, Stoke on Trent and its surrounding areas. The
building is single storey and we are fortunate to have a large car park. Our
patient list size currently stands at just over 4,800.
We are a high achiever of QOF and endeavour to
deliver high quality of care to all our patients within a safe environment
acknowledging the need to retain dignity, respect and confidentiality at all
times.
We are also a GP Training Practice working in
collaboration with Keele Medical School and have Registrars and Medical
Students on placement with us throughout the year.

Effectively
greet patients and visitors to the surgery in an appropriate and professional
manner at all times

Book,
cancel and rearrange appointments as requested by telephone, face-to-face or
online using the electronic appointment book, ensuring patients are directed to
the most appropriate healthcare professional

Communicate
effectively with patients, relatives and carers
-
Process
in person, by telephone and e-mail general enquiries ensuring accuracy of
detail in all messages and ensuring these are actioned as necessary
-
Action
GP referrals ensuring correct processes are followed to avoid unnecessary
delays for patients

Action
all practice tasks and workflow comments daily in accordance with the
practice policy

Provide assistance and chaperoning to GPs
when required

Explain
practice procedures and arrangements for new patients

Registration
of patients residing within the practice boundary, ensuring appropriate
documents are completed and information entered onto system is correct

Provide
results of tests and investigations as requested and advised by the GP

Update
patient details to ensure correct and accurate details are held, i.e. correct
address and telephone number, and monitor any PDS differences
-
Handle
and redirect internal and external mail appropriately and accurately scan and
attach clinical and administrative information/correspondence onto patients
records as necessary

Issue
correct and appropriate specimen containers and forms and ensure the correct
information is obtained and completed on return of the specimen
Expected Hours - 23.5/wk - Wednesday 08:00-18:30 / Thursday 08:00-13:30 and 13:00-18:30 (alternate weeks) / Friday 08:00-18:00
You will be required to work as per the specified rota and flexible working is essential to cover additional hours during annual leave and sickness
