Job summary

Spinney Surgery is looking for a dedicated and enthusiasticPractice Nurse with an interest in diabetes careto join our friendly and supportive primary care team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about chronic disease management and keen to develop or expand their expertise in diabetes within a well-established GP practice.

Main duties of the job

The Spinney Surgery has approximately 11,000 patients from wide variety of backgrounds all with differing needs. Our practice nurses have a varied and interesting workload, dealing with patients face to face, via telephone or occasionally video consultation.

We are a large practice and part of the St Ives PCN. We are a supportive team which offers a happy and friendly environment to work in. Team work is at the heart of our surgery and as such new members of staff are given full training and mentoring.

Job responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Providing general practice nursing services including immunisations, wound care, cervical screening, and NHS health checks
  • Managing and supporting patients with long-term conditions, particularly diabetes
  • Running diabetes clinics and reviewing patients progress
  • Offering lifestyle advice and education to support self-management
  • Monitoring blood results (e.g. HbA1c) and adjusting care plans accordingly
  • Supporting insulin initiation (if trained)
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records

  • Registered Nurse with a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Experience in primary care or community nursing
  • Interest in or experience with diabetes care
  • Strong communication and patient engagement skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Qualification or training in diabetes management
  • Experience running chronic disease clinics
