Job summary

To ensure the standards of cleanliness within the practice are implemented and maintained, ensuring a clean environment for patient care in accordance practice policies.

Main duties of the job

A schedule of cleaning for each area throughout the organisation will be provided. The cleaner is to maintain detailed records of activity for regular and robust cleaning audits.

To correctly dispose of waste in accordance with the waste management policy whilst considering the practices obligations detailed in the environmental and sustainability policy.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the cleaner are as follows. On occasion, there may be a requirement to carry out tasks not listed below, that are within the reasonable scope of the role.

  • To maintain cleaning standards using recognised quality control procedures in line with relevant practice policies
  • To maintain robust cleaning records to detail activity for audit purposes
  • To follow the cleaning schedule
  • Ensure correct cleaning methods are observed
  • To use cleaning equipment in a safe and effective manner, adhering to manufacturers instructions
  • To replenish consumable items as required (hand towels, toilet roll, etc)
  • To dispose of general waste in line with the practice waste management policy
  • To always adhere to the colour coding system for cleaning equipment, seeking guidance where necessary
  • To ensure all cleaning materials are stored in a safe and secure manner, adhering to COSHH, HASAW and other legislative acts and guidance
  • Undertake legionella flushing of systems within the practice
  • To maintain communication and report any faulty equipment or defects to the OperationsManager as soon as practically possible
  • To participate in cleanliness audits and follow audit action plans to rectify any identified areas for improvement

In addition to the core responsibilities, the Receptionist may be requested to;

1. Partake in general audit as directed by the audit lead

2. Support new members of staff as required

3. Support other members of staff as requested
