General Practice Manager

The closing date is 31 January 2026

Job summary

Rother House Medical Centre is a large, semi-rural practice providing the best possible care for our patients within the resources available to us. We value our workforce and the care and support they provide for our population.

We are looking for a dynamic, well-organised and enthusiastic Practice Manager to support the Partnership in leading our amazing team. We are keen to optimise all opportunities and resources available to us and to continue evolving and developing in an ever-changing NHS.

The ideal candidate would be someone with a passion for patient care and who can demonstrate business and strategic planning skills as well as being able to motivate the team.

We anticipate this role will complement and support the Partnership and Assistant Practice Manager roles as well as bringing innovative ideas and enthusiasm to a team that is always keen to develop, learn and optimise opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The Practice Manager is the central role in the Organisation with responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Practice and the functional management of all clinical and administrative staff.

The Practice Manager will work closely with the Partnership on the strategic and financial planning for the Organisation and developing the opportunities for the Practice.

Developing and managing the workforce within the Practice including recruitment , appraisal and supporting HR issues are key components of the role.

Managing the NHS and QOF contractual obligations and having oversight of all projects within the Practice including change and continuous improvement plans are core components of the role.

Patients are at the core of everything we do and the Practice Manager is at the centre of how we support our patients by ensuring all policies and procedures (including robust IT and IG processes) are in place and ensuring we respond to feedback , manage complaints and support our Patient Participation Group.

The day-to-day management of the Practice includes managing service contracts including cleaning and gardening as well as estates management , health and safety processes and insurance cover.

At times the Practice Manager will expected to act as the formal representative for the Practice and will be the primary point of contact for NHSE , ICB and other stakeholders.

This is not an exhaustive list and the role will evolve based on the needs of the Practice

About us

Rother House Medical Centre is a dynamic , forward-thinking 8 partner practice with a large , friendly team looking after over 17,000 patients. We are driven to provide the highest quality of care within the available resources.

Our clinical staff are encouraged to pursue special interests and as a practice we manage two community wards as well as providing medical cover for several nursing homes and D2A projects .

We are active members of our PCN and our PCN staff are an integral part of our workforce supporting the delivery of QOF and other clinical and non-clinical care.

Quality patient care is at the core of everything we do and we actively engage with our Patient Participation Group to ensure their voice is part of our decision making .
