Job summary

The Sides Medical Centre are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic & motivated GP to join our friendly and successful practice team.

We are a forward-thinking training practice, supportive of continued education, personal development and focussed on providing high quality patient care to 13500+ patients.

Ideally we would like someone to work 6 / 7 sessions per week.

Main duties of the job

We would be looking for someone with experience of patient triage and you will be required to do an on-call once per week.

About us

We are a purpose built practice on the border of Swinton and Worsley.

We have 13,500 patients with a team of 5 GP Partners, 4 Practice Nurses, 2 TNA's, 1 HCA, Paramedic, Car Co-ordinator, FCP and 5 GP Trainees. We have an in-house pharmacy team, a management team of 2 and an admin team of 16.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referredor referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards, collecting data for audit purposes
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing
  • The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

    a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

    b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

    c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

    d. Effective management of long-term conditions

    e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

    f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

    g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

    h. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

    i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

    j. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

    k. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

    l. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training.

    m. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

    n. Prepare and complete the revalidation process

    o. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

    p. Support the training of GPSTs and FY2 doctors.

    q. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

    r. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times
