Mental Health Nurse/MH Practitioner Prescribing

The closing date is 01 June 2025

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced mental health practitioner to join usand complement our existing multi-disciplinary team.

We are a large practice with 12,000 patients based in the City Centre. We pride ourselves on our team spirit and if successful, you will find yourself part of a fun and approachable work group with a passion for self improvement and progression opportunities.

We actively promote from within - and we know our staff members feel supported in their role. We encourage our staff to take on their own areas of responsibility and ownership, and to develop autonomous skills, giving them a step into their future careers within the non-clinical side of the NHS.

We pride ourselves on being approachable and working as one, whilst offering flexible working for individuals, taking into account the daily needs of our staff into our rotas, with partial remote working and condensed hours being available as per the needs of the individuals and the practice.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced mental health practitioner who is able to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team. You must have significant and demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable people and families, who present with complex mental health needs and often risk to self and or others.

You must have a working knowledge of adult mental health and have an understanding of assessing complex mental health needs and levels of risk, including safeguarding and self-harm.

You must have a demonstrable range of skills and knowledge base to deliver clinical aspects of the role and be competent to do this work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines and a structured supervision framework.

Due to the pressures of space in GP practices, the role requires flexible home and surgery working - so IT skills are essential in this role. Full training on these will be provided, as well as a home set up to enable this hybrid model.

About us

Our surgery has 12000 patients and is based in the City Centre, just off Ancoats. We have excellent transport links close by and limited on site parking for the clinical team.

You will be working with an excellent administrative team who are always on hand to help with any queries, and a group of clinicians keen to work collaboratively towards the patients best interests.
