Job summary
The Paramedic will work as part of the multidisciplinary team within the GP
surgery, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. The role
involves undertaking clinical assessments, evaluation, and referral, providing
urgent and routine care, managing acute presentations, conducting home
visits, and supporting chronic disease management. The Paramedic will
contribute to reducing GP workload while ensuring patients receive safe,
effective, and timely care.
Main duties of the job
Undertake urgent and routine home visits as requested by the practice.
Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans for patients
presenting with acute illness, injury, or exacerbation of long-term conditions.
Triage patients and prioritise clinical need, referring appropriately to GPs or
other healthcare professionals.
Prescribe medication (if an Independent Prescriber) or work within Patient
Group Directives (PGDs and local pathways).
Support the management of patients with chronic diseases, promoting selfcare and health education.
Undertake clinical procedures within the scope of practice (e.g., wound care,
ECGs, vaccinations if trained).
Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings and case reviews.
Record consultations, clinical assessments, and outcomes accurately using the
surgerys clinical system EMIS.
Provide advice, support, and signposting to patients, families, and carers.
Contribute to safeguarding assessments and reporting.
Support the practice in responding to on-the-day urgent demand. Engage in audit, quality improvement projects, and clinical governance
activities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills through CPD and mandatory
training.

- > HCPC registered Paramedic.
- > Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience.
- >Evidence of working autonomously in assessing, diagnosing, and managing
- patients.
- > Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- >Strong IT skills and familiarity with clinical systems (or willingness to learn).
- >Commitment to patient-centred care and safeguarding.
- > Own taxed and insured vehicle for home visits.
