Job summary
Sandy Lane Surgery is a very busy GP Practice in Leyland, and we are looking for a hard-working, reliable, administrator to join our friendly team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with excellent organisational skills to join our busy administrative team. It is essential that the successful candidate will have proven experience in clinical coding/summarising of medical records and an excellent understanding of medical terminology. You will also be a first point of contact for our patients within our Patient Support Team and so will need to be friendly, empathetic and willing to have a holistic approach to healthcare and go the extra mile for patients when necessary.
The hours are full time (37 per week): however we would consider a job share/part time hours for the right candidate.
You must have recent experience in a customer service role in a busy office environment and will need to be calm under pressure whilst maintaining the ability to perform to a high standard and deliver the service in a professional, courteous, efficient and effective way.
Interviews to take place week beginning 15th July 2024.
Main duties of the job
The role will provide strong administrative support therefore candidates must be able to work as part of a team and independently and be able to demonstrate the following:
Excellent organisational abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills
Effective communications skills
Strong IT skills-including management of the practices social media platforms and producing newsletters
Ability to work accurately and methodically
Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining composure
Ability to work flexibly between the hours of 8.00am until 6.30pm
Willingness to undertake ongoing training to understand medical terminology
Previous NHS administrative experience, including the use of medical terminology essential.

In addition to the usual medical services including health promotion, chronic disease management, immunisations, family planning, child health, antenatal and postnatal care, the practice also carries out minor surgery procedures.
