Job summary
Sandy Lane Surgery is a very busy GP Practice in Leyland, and we are looking for a hard-working, reliable, experienced receptionist to join our friendly team. You will be the first point of contact for our patients and so will need to be friendly, empathetic and willing to have a holistic approach to healthcare and go the extra mile for patients when necessary.
Due to retirement an opportunity has arisen for a part time experienced medical receptionist/care navigator to join our existing team.
The hours are part time (27-29 per week):
You must have recent experience in a medical reception and will need to be calm under pressure whilst maintaining the ability to perform to a high standard and deliver the service in a professional, courteous, efficient and effective way.
Previous experience of working in medical reception is essential.
Applicants should have excellent customer service skills, IT and organisational skills. The ideal candidate will need to be confident, loyal, hardworking, a team player with excellent communication skills and a "can-do" approach to their work.
Duties will include call handling, front of house reception, prescription management and other administrative tasks.
Applicants must be willing to offer cover at short notice when needed, so flexibility is a must.
Hours may change in accordance to business needs.
Salary dependent upon experience.
Main duties of the job
You will provide an efficient and helpful service to the practice and patients by acting as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other medical staff.
You will provide general assistance to patients and the practice team projecting a positive and friendly image at all times
Duties will include:
Maintaining an efficient and effective surgery/clinic appointment system.
Receive patients/visitors promptly and courteously.
Receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls ensuring timely and appropriate communication. Take accurate messages, give information and advice in a manner responsive to customer needs
Preparing the reception and waiting room before the sessions start.
Receive patient requests for prescriptions and process them electronically monitoring compliance with medication.

We are a well regarded training practice and have GP Registrars and other Doctors working with us throughout the year. In addition to the usual medical services including health promotion, chronic disease management, immunisations, family planning, child health, antenatal and postnatal care, the practice also carries out minor surgery procedures.
