Job summary
We are looking to recruit a HCA to work with our friendly, well established practice team in East Manchester. Our list size is currently over 8,000 with diverse populations. This very interesting role could be developed by the right candidate who is interested in extending learning.
Preference will be given to
candidates with previous experience but those with other relevant experience
which would act as a basis for in-house training are also welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The job will involve general HCA duties, home visits (own
vehicle is essential), taking BPs and phlebotomy. (Evidence of a qualification
in phlebotomy is desirable although training is available for the right
candidate). ECGs, Health Checks,
smoking cessation, immunisations (training available for the right candidate),
telephoning patients on QOF and Manchester Standards lists, this is an
essential part of the role and the successful candidate should have a good
telephone manner.
The successful candidate must
be reliable, motivated, a good team player, willing to learn and able to adapt
to a new working environment.

JOB TITLE:

OBJECTIVES: To
work as part of the nursing team
providing an efficient and polite
service
to patients, doctors and other
team members
HOURS: 25 hours
per week across Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
MAIN DUTIES:
To provide a friendly and efficient service to patients
and visitors, both in
person and over the
telephone. This involves:
Clinical and Administrative duties in order to provide
holistic care to patients whilst attending the surgery, support and assist the
practice nurse/s, allowing them more time to spend on assessing and managing
their treatment.
Report all matters pertaining to patients care
changes in condition/circumstances to a relevant member of the nursing or
medical team as a matter of priority and ensure that a written record is kept.
Report any safeguarding concerns to the Usual GP or
Safeguarding lead as a matter of priority and ensure relevant records are
updated or created.
Prepare and explain Clinical Procedures to patients
according to agreed guidelines/protocols.
Using tact and discretion to obtain information of a
personal nature when assessing the urgency of a request.
Provide phlebotomy service for the practice (once
training completed).
Carry out lifestyle advice to patients as requested,
follow up as appropriate.
Summary of current duties: Testing Urine, measuring
blood pressure, temperature and pulse, peak flow for Asthma patients, ECGs
(Electrocardiogram) and associated paper work, baby clinic administration, new
patient health checks.
To exercise complete confidentiality at all times, with
regard to patients
information and the running of
the Practice, breach of this may lead to instant dismissal.
Ensure the drugs refrigerators are at the correct
temperature and that drugs
are within their expiry date and
used in correct sequence. Order drugs
and other supplies as directed ensuring that adequate levels of stocks are
available in the surgery.
Ensure that the clinical room is at all times kept in a
clean and orderly
manner and that relevant equipment
is ready for use.
General Office Duties ...... run computer reports as
necessary, filing etc.
Performing other clerical duties
and attending clinics as required.
Administer recall systems in relation to: chronic
disease management,
immunisation etc and organise
appointments and follow ups.
Ensure that health promotion materials are available
within the surgery,
ordering new stock when needed.
To attend relevant meetings and courses as and when
required.
To function as an integral part of a developing team.
All contacts that you have with patients MUST be
recorded.
Have knowledge of and act at all times within the
boundaries of health and safety legislation and data protection acts.
Continuous mandatory training.
Other duties as requested by the doctors, nurses and
management; the employer can determine any additional duties that may be
required aslong as they do not exceed the
level of responsibility expected for the grade of post.
