Job summary

We are looking to employ an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly clinical team. The post holder is responsible for assisting the clinical team, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective healthcare services to the whole practice population

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Practice Nurse with health promotion and chronic disease management clinics.
  • Perform baseline clinical observations: blood pressure, pulse, temperature, pulse oximetry, BMI checks.
  • Review Anima submissions and book appropriate nursing/HCA appointments.
  • Manage and file clinical documentation (e.g. T2D bloods/urines, Docman, AccuRx).
  • Coordinate and manage baby immunisation appointments.
  • Facilitate and advise on routine and 24-hour BP monitoring.
  • Undertake wound care, dressings, suture/clip removal, and other clinical tasks.
  • Carry out venepuncture, ECGs, COPD 6 testing, and administer vaccinations (flu, shingles, pneumococcal, B12).
  • Deliver NHS Health Checks, smoking cessation clinics, and learning disability health checks.
  • Conduct diabetes screening including foot checks.
  • Act as Pre-Diabetes Lead: review results, contact patients, and manage follow-up.
  • Act as AliveCor Lead: coach patients on device use and manage equipment loans.
  • Ensure specimens are recorded and prepared for transport.
  • Provide support during minor operations.
  • Maintain clinical room readiness: stock levels, fridge cleaning, waste disposal

    Job responsibilities

    • Supporting the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
    • Supporting the practice nurse with the management of Chronic Disease clinics
    • Carrying out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, calculating & recording average readings from DOCMAN & AccuRx, making appointments as needed

    • Undertaking Wound Care, Dressings and other clinical tasks as required
