Job summary

We are looking for a Healthcare Support Worker to join our friendly and dedicated team at The Harefield Practice. This is a part-time role (3 days per week), supporting our patients and clinicians in delivering high-quality care.

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play an essential role in providing frontline support to patients. You will assist with a wide range of clinical and administrative tasks, including taking blood samples, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, health checks, and supporting vaccination programmes. You will also work closely with our GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals to help manage long-term conditions and promote healthier lifestyles in our community.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is caring, motivated, and eager to develop their career in primary care. Whether you are new to healthcare or have prior experience, we will support your training and development.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Support Worker at The Harefield Practice, your main duties will include:

  • Supporting health promotion activities such as smoking cessation, weight management and lifestyle advice

  • Playing an active role in vaccination and immunisation programmes

  • Carrying out phlebotomy, blood pressure checks, ECGs and health checks

  • Assisting clinicians with chronic disease monitoring and minor procedures

  • Accurately updating and maintaining patient records

  • Providing care and support to patients under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals

A Healthcare Support Worker will work within a multi-professional team in a GP setting, providing, support, care, and treatment to patients, within guidelines and protocols identified for the role.

Primary Responsibilities

supports health promotion and prevention activities across the PCN, including smoking cessation, weight management, and lifestyle interventions
