Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a qualified practice nurse to further their career whilst joining a small and friendly practice in the stunning location of Boscastle.

About the practice:

  • Two partners, two salaried GPs and one paramedic
  • A full complement of administration and clinical staff to ensure smooth running of the practice
  • Approximately 5000 patients
  • GPST training practice
  • Rated 'good' by CQC
  • Part of North Cornwall Coast PCN

Main duties of the job

Experience of chronic disease management, cervical screening and treatment room duties such as dressings and ECGs is essential. A prescribing qualification or a willingness to complete a prescribing qualification is desirable.

Support with path lab results

Chronic disease management

Wound care (ulcer/doppler) and dressings

BP taking, ECGs and phlebotomy

Injections including travel health

Spirometry

Cervical screening

Coil checks and removals

Vaginal swabs

Ear syringing

Womens health

Suture/clip removals

QRISK cardiac risk scores

Pessary fitting/changing

Coag INR checks

Hy-Pylori breath tests

Learning disabilities checks

Develop, embed and implement health promotion

Provide routine nursing care to patients as required in accordance with clinical based evidence and guidance (NICE, NSF, Practice protocols)

Prioritise health issues and intervene appropriately

Support the team in dealing with clinical emergencies

Recognise, assess and refer patients presenting with mental health needs

Implement vaccination programmes for adults and children

Support patients in the use of their prescribed medicines or over the counter medicines (within own scope of practice)

Liaise with external services / agencies to ensure the patient is supported appropriately (vulnerable patients etc.)

Delegate clinical responsibilities appropriately (ensuring safe practice and the task is within the scope of practice of the individual)

Support the clinical team with all safeguarding matters, in accordance with local and national policies

Understand practice and local policies for substance abuse and addictive behaviour, referring patients appropriately

Ensure prescribing quality against local and national guidance
