Job summary
A vacancy has arisen within the Dispensary Team at this busy GP Training Practice.
We currently have a practice list size of around 16,500 patients.
We have a team of Partners, GP`s, GP ST3`s, Nurses, HCA`s, Receptionist, Administrators & Medical Secretaries.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, demonstrate excellent communication skills and provide a high level of customer service.
Dispensary experience would be beneficial, The successful candidate will be required to train for a dispensary NVQ Level 2 qualification.
Duties will be undertaken at the main surgery in Penistone plus travelling to our branch sites in Silkstone & Thurgoland.
Own vehicle is essential
About us
Salary will be commensurate with experience with the current salary scale £24,211 - £26,159 (f.t.e 37 hours) depending on experience and qualifications.
The post will be 25 hours per week (Mon-Fri) between the hours of 8am & 7pm.

Job responsibilities
- Operate the repeat prescription system according to guidelines.
- Dispense medicines from prescriptions with regard to the correct patient, drug type, amount and strength.
- Issue prescribed medications to patients.
- Assist with the daily ordering of drugs in accordance with usage and turnover.
- When necessary, make deliveries of medication to patients at home.
- Note, and act upon, any drug alert notifications or other notifications relating to the purchase, storage or dispensing of any drug.
- Assist in keeping the dispensary and its stores, clean and in good order.
- Assist in keeping all dispensing records according to statutory requirements and Practice protocols.
- At branch surgeries, book appointments for patients and check in their arrival for appointments.
- Ensure that action needed, or messages to be passed on to any patient are notified promptly to the appropriate clinical or administrative staff according to the patient note protocol.
- Give any necessary assistance to the practice doctors and nurses and dispensary manager.
- According to shift, open and close the surgery at the beginning and end of each session, applying to appropriate security procedures.
- Limited reception duties at branch sites.
- Any other tasks as details to dispensary staff by the dispensary manager, doctors or business manager.
