Job summary
We are looking to recruit a part-time call handler/receptionist/administrator to help ensure the smooth running of the a very busy GP Practice. Candidates will be expected to act as a point of contact for communication between patients, doctors, nursing staff and other members of the primary care health team. Candidates should have a keen eye for detail and enjoy working both as part of a team and alone. You will be working in a fast paced environment where no 2 days are ever the same. You will be expected to deal with patients both on the telephone and face to face We offer a full induction program which will cover all aspects of training for the job. Previous experience of telephone communications and face to face public contact is desirable but not essential. Computer literacy will be required but full training will be given on our in house systems.
The successful candidate may be required to work additional hours to cover holidays and sickness so some flexibility is required

- To handle a large volume of telephone calls, obtain and record accurate information using the systems provided.
- To communicate with all patients and members of the practice team in a calm and respectful manner at all times.
- To book appointments with health care professionals when required in accordance with practice policies and procedures.
- To monitor the cancellation line when working at appointments 1work station.
- To make outgoing calls to patients informing them accurately of all information following clinical instruction.
- To have knowledge and direct patients to the practice website to obtain useful information and complete forms required
- To inform patients of the Practice online services and advise on how this service works.
- To monitor the flow of patients into the waiting room
- Explain the registration process to new patients and those seeking temporary cover.
- To ensure accurate messages are taken for all members of the practice team.
- To direct information to the relevant staff member who can help with enquiries. access to medical records task
- To ensure that notifications, emails are checked on a regular basis.
- To act as a chaperone if required.
- To ensure that all work stations are clean and tidy before and after use.
