Job summary

We are looking for an innovative, forward thinking candidate with a minimum of 3 years reception experience, to take up a new and exciting position at our busy GP practice. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and oversee the reception area, ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities and delivering exceptional service to our patients.

Main duties of the job

Manage and supervise the reception team, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent patient care.

Handle patient enquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally and reporting these to the practice manager.

Coordinate staff rota's, oversee patient registration processes, ensuring accurate data input and compliance with practice policies.

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and all staff members to maintain effective communication and workflow within the practice.

Job responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of all reception staff and associated functions, ensuring all functions are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures, protocols and time-scales, and reporting to the practice manager as necessary.

Promote a harmonious and professional atmosphere in this public facing role.

Oversee e-learning of all reception staff

Ensure adequate staffing levels, and organise rotas ensuring all functions are covered as required

Deal with more complex enquiries from patients including informal complaints

Continually assess and evaluate systems and quality, recommending changes and improvements to the practice manager as appropriate

Manage day to day issues that may arise within the team or with individuals

Regularly evaluate quality of individual and team performance

Essential

  • A minimum of 3 years reception experience. A good understanding of general practice and the corresponding admin burden. Excellent people skills. Be able to commit fully to the required hours, job plan and any training needed.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care and experience of working in a GP practice

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths and English (C or above)

Desirable

  • NVQ in supervisory role
