Job summary

Join our team as a Medical Secretary and contribute to providing exceptional healthcare services to our patients. As a key member of our support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations within the Practice. Although the role is ideally full time (37.5 hours Monday - Friday) we will be happy to consider applications from suitable candidates who can work 30 hours per week (over 4 or 5 days)

Main duties of the job

To provide efficient, high quality secretarial, administrative and support services to GPs and health professionals as required and to maintain office cover. This will involve word processing, audio typing skills with general clerical work.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and health professionals as required. This includes typing letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Process and maintain referrals using the E Referral System. Maintain all workstreams within the E Referral system.
  • Process dictation using the Lexacom system.
  • Establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
  • Process private work requests.
  • Retrieve medical records and process requests for the completion of medical/insurance records/photocopying and Subject Access Requests requests/checking of notes.
  • Raise invoices and receive payments for private work.
  • Receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
  • Ability to retrieve test results, clinic letters, discharge summaries from appropriate computer systems, or liaise with secondary care staff.
