Phlebotomist

Job summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. Duties will involve undertaking venepuncture on patients as required, domiciliary venepuncture on patients, recording collection of the blood sample on the patient record and ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff. The post-holder will centrifuge samples daily and ensure that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion. Working as part of the practice team the post-holder will provide general assistance including sterilising and maintaining surgery equipment, restocking GP rooms and vaccine/cold chain storage recording under practice nurse supervision. This job will include a Thursday night until 8pm.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities

- Perform venepuncture to collect blood samples both in the practice and in the community

- Label vials accurately and ensure proper handling of samples

- Verify patient information and maintain accurate records of tests performed

- Follow strict aseptic techniques to prevent contamination

- Interact with patients in a professional and empathetic manner

- Further training will be provided to carry out BP checks, ECGs and diabetic foot screening.

Qualifications

- Proficient in phlebotomy techniques including venepuncture.

- Preference will be given to those who have experience in a General Practice environment

- This role requires you to be able to travel and have your own car, as some of our appointments are delivered in the community.
