Medical Receptionist

Job summary

Working at reception, booking appointments and answering the telephone.

Dealing with patient queries.

Administering repeat prescriptions and dealing with tasks sent by the Doctors.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service of healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

To provide efficient, helpful, informative and supportive reception and administration service to patients and members of the primary health care team

About us

we are a small friendly team with 3 GPs and regular locums, an admin team of 7, practice nurse, healthcare assistant. The practice closely work with other community teams to provide patient care.

AdministrationTo have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
  • To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
  • To work in accordance of written protocols
  • Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and updating as necessary
  • Filing post in medical records
  • Email, Fax and photocopy as requested
  • Dealing with patient queries F2F and over the telephone

  • Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records
  • Process patients changes of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area)

  • Have working knowledge of telephone/bleep system, during and after hours
  • Cover for telephonist when necessary
