Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practice Nurse to join our friendly, rural practice. The role includes the usual Practice Nurse duties such as smear taking, wound care, vaccinations, pill checks and long-term condition reviews. The position is for 15 hours per week working Tuesdays and Fridays.

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following

  • Undertake cytology and action results appropriately
  • Routine acute wound care
  • Care of chronic wounds, pressure and leg ulcers
  • Removal of Sutures/Staples
  • Urinalysis for both acute and chronic conditions
  • Travel planning
  • Family planning Contraception
  • Hormone Replacement Treatment monitoring
  • ECGs both acute and routine as required
  • Peak Flow Readings
  • Phlebotomy
  • Chronic Disease Management (Diabetes)
  • Hypertension Management 24hr Blood Pressure Monitoring and blood pressure checks in clinic
  • Ear syringing
  • Adult immunisations
  • Childhood immunisations
  • Prepare and send samples for lab testing
  • Chaperoning or assisting another clinician as requested
  • Assisting clinicians with minor procedures if required.
  • Additional Role Practice Infection Control Lead.

About us

We are a SystmOne practice of approximately 5,500 patients based in Branston within easy access of Lincoln. Our nursing team comprises of Practice Nurses, GPA, HCA a phlebotomist. We are an active member of the South Lincoln Healthcare PCN and benefit from shared access to a large multidisciplinary team within the locality including pharmacists, physios, and home health.

  • A demonstrable commitment to professional development
  • Experience of working in Primary Care
  • Computer Literate
  • Able to use own initiative and work unsupervised
  • Leadership skills including team development
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations and cope under pressure
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Able to work additional hours, occasionally at short notice
  • Able to work on own without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities
  • Demonstrates tact and diplomacy
  • Treats people with dignity and respect at all times
  • Enthusiastic and motivated
  • Team worker

Desirable
